M Quilt – a simple log cabin

A simple log cabin baby quilt.

Here’s a recent finish for another baby born a few months ago now.

The quilt was inspired by the colours in backing material, a gift from Diana.

The centre squares are 4.5″ (finished 4″) and the borders around them are 2.5″ thick (finishing at 2″).

At first I thought I’d made a big mistake and should of gone with white thread, but the mister convinced me to stick with the colours. I think he’s right.

It’s a bit hard to differential between the colours above so here they are:

  2. Brown is not a colour I am drawn to, but your fabric choices are wonderful as usual. I love the use of brown in this quilt, and everything else about the quilt too. Baby can’t be far away, so good luck with everything.

  3. Love the different coloured threads, and they are such pretty colours. The appliqued M is so cute. Love the whole design of your quilt, and those colours are just gorgeous. Lucky baby M.

  4. Wow Kirsty, it is a true beauty. I love the colors and again the design! Perfect to my eyes. Not too girly, but fresh enough for a baby.
And… I love to find out that my husband is not the only one that gives good advice on craftprojects. How painfully right he is sometimes, ouch :-).

Good luck with your last days as a pregnant lady! I am sending you good vibes and health for the coming days. And hope the weather is getting a little cooler for you, we have rain here. Not that I would prefer that, but at least it is cooler now, haha.

    Love, Maaike

  6. I know I still owe you an email, but just quickly, I love how you’ve done this quilt. Great idea to use different colours in the quilting too. And as usual all perfectly straight lines!! How do you do it?? Lucky baby M.
