Thank you so much for purchasing my The Plus Side quilt pattern. I hope you have as much fun playing with the basic block in this pattern as I did.
One useful rule of thumb to remember when planning out your quilt is that each block needs two fat-eighths (F8s) of fabric – one light and one dark.
There is a lot of scope for variety with orientation and colour, and here are a few examples to inspire you.
Sea Glass:
Crib Size. 2 yds turquoise, 1.5 yds grey, 1 yd aqua and 1/2 yd green.
Make 8 turquoise/grey blocks, 8 turquoise/aqua blocks, 4 green/grey blocks.
Rainbow:
Twin Size. 3.75 yds mid grey, 5/8 yd dark grey
5/8 yd each of 7 bright colours of your choice.
Make 5 blocks with each of the rainbow colours. Choose one colour to match with the dark grey (5 blocks) and pair the remaining 6 colours with the mid grey (30 blocks).
Coral Stripes:
Crib size. 2.5 yds grey, 1.25 yds navy, 1 yd salmon, FQ light coral.
Make 10 navy/grey blocks, 8 salmon/grey blocks, 2 light coral/grey blocks
Create the stripes by rotating the blocks so that like sides are touching, alternating the navy/corals with the grey.
Lap sized, scrappy. 8 FQs each of red, green, silver and white.
Make 5 red/green blocks, 5 red/white blocks, 5 red/silver blocks, 5 green/white blocks, 5 green/silver blocks, 5 silver/white blocks.
Patriotic:
Finishes 48″ x 84″. 3/4 yd navy, 2.75 yds red, 3.5 yds white.
Make 6 navy/white blocks, 22 red/white blocks.
Colonel Mustard Monochrome:
Crib size. 3/4 yd dark, 2.5 yds mid, 1.75 yds light
Make 6 dark/mid blocks, 14 mid/light blocks
