Gemology

A modern, fat quarter friendly, lap sized pattern combining HSTs and HRTs for a geometric gem of a quilt.

The Gemology quilt is approximately 54″ x 70″ when finished.

Gemology uses HSTs and half rectangle triangles (HRTs) to create the geometric shapes. If you’d like to add another fun block shape to your quilting arsenal then you’ll enjoy learning how to sew these long, skinny (3:1 ratio) HRTs.

Trimming the blocks is easiest with a 12.5″ square ruler – I’d recommend having one on hand to trim the blocks quickly. The pattern gives instructions on how to trim the blocks, complete with photos.

This quilt pattern is fat-quarter friendly – click on the photos below to see the fabric requirements. (Alison Glass’ Chroma fabric line features in the cover version.)
