Sew a fun modern quilt with the Zed quilt pattern. This throw size quilt is fat quarter friendly and will help reduce your stash, too.
Zed is a quilt pattern for a lap quilt that finishes at 53″ x 68″. Since the pattern’s original publication I have added an addendum with instructions for sewing a twin sized (68″ x 83″) quilt.
This pattern is a great stash buster – it’s fat quarter friendly! Each row of Zed blocks uses 2 FQs. My multi-coloured cover version takes 14 rainbow FQs.
If you like you can make each row in one colour only and use up some half yards instead. It’s very versatile, and you can move your blocks around to test layouts before you sew them all together in the final quilt.
This quilt pattern is suitable for a confident beginner. Zed uses Half Square Triangles (HSTs) and Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs). And yes, if you like Bloc_loc rulers then you will be able to trim the HRTs with the large 2:1 HRT ruler.
The Zed pattern has pressing information to make sure all your seams nest (because I’m really not a fan of pinning).
