Is Instagram your jam? Or maybe Facebook is where you spend your social media time?
I’d love to know either way so that I’m putting my efforts toward the one you all prefer!
Please know that I have no intention of changing my focus on blog posts or my newsletter – they are still the most important methods of communication in my book.
But social media…boy, I’m finding it hard to stay on top of that one at the moment. I think I could be more productive if I only had one channel to focus on.
So, please let me know by checking the answer that best applies to you below:
Need more time?
I find IG much more fun….. Facebook (begrudgingly) only for updates on children and grandchildren as needed. Quilts and cats —- that’s me
I use facebook more than IG, I get a bit lost on IG, love the colours of the new quilts you are doing.
I use both FB and IG and love both for different reasons. There’s not so much wasted time cruising through IG but with Facebook, there is the opportunity for interaction between followers. That can be a bad thing but mostly I find it good. It just means you need more time if you are interested. Of course, you can always just scan the photos and skip the conversations so FB is my choice if only one is available.
I use FB but only because I don’t have the time to use all the different aspects of social media available.
Defenitly Instagram. Never been a big fan of FB
I agree with the other comments. I use FB for family and friends–to post pics of childs etc. But IG is where my feed is beautiful and inspirational and ONLY quilt/sewing.
Am so glad I found you. Am a beginner making charity quilts and like to have variety – your designs and colors are gorgeous!
I don’t do either. HATE facebook I’m too busy sewing , Quilting and embroidery to get on the “net” to follow anyone.
I realize that you are just around the corner and over the hill from me . LOL

I have less time for FB I have deleted it from my phone so I only have it at night or early morning. I just checked yours out and it’s gorgeous. How was I not following you? anyway, I am now. Lucky I get your newsletters. I only slide through insta when I get a sec but I don’t like it as much as I did because its choosing what I see now so it’s not as organic as it used to be. Have a creative day!
These days I mostly use Instagram. Facebook is too polluted with advertising and things I would much rather not see. I use it to keep up with family and connect with a group I have exchanged blocks with.
I follow the blogs of sewists I am particularly fond of (you are on that list of course) and love to read their posts.
I do neither. So does that mean I ‘ ok not hear from?
If so I have enjoyed your blog!
I don’t use Facebook for various reasons, but I do use Instagram.
I would love it if you put it on Pinterest
I only use IG. I have never signed on to Facebook. My family calls, emails, or texts me. Everything else I use the computer, television and real phone calls. I also still send hand written notes and cards. I have a few of your patterns and always look forward to what you are sharing. Thank you for your kind words regarding our recent birthday. (Canada)
By far I spend more time at IG when it comes to quilting/sewing stuff. FB timeline is kind of busy and polluted by some advertisers, and I like to see photos of quilts, blocks, and fabrics as they are my source of inspiration. IG timeline is clean and, depending on who you follow, is always beautiful.
So I organized my “social media life” to access my hobbies contacts via Instagram (and I add the blogs on a reader – Feedly).
You may always post on IG and share that same post on FB.
Instagram for my quilting life and Facebook for friends and family!
P.S. – I do really love your newsletter emails too!
Thank you Andera! I love the newsletter too, there’s no way I’ll be giving it up!
Have a wonderful week,
Cheers, Kirsty
I use facebook more.
Hi Kirsty,
I don’t use either, but not because of an ugh-refusal attitude. Email, phone and real postal mail keep me busy enough. (Oh, the forgotten joys of handwritten notes and letters! A slower pace, but memorable because of the lingering pleasure of personal connections.) For hobbies, I really don’t need super-fast quickies. But if it works for others, all to the good!
I like your website, your style, and your willingness to pull things together for others in the quilters’ world. Thanks!
For quilts and quilting, I pretty much use Instagram exclusively. The only time I use Facebook is to check in with children and grandchildren.
Hi Kirsty,
I am a pretty avid social media user (for personal and business purposes). I find IG for anything visually pleasing – and your quilts are DEFINITELY in that category! FB is great if you want conversation (but this can be a double-edged sword). By the way, I am a new follower and brand new quilter and I absolutely love your designs. They are crisp, modern and very appealing to an avid crafter/sewer who previously thought very little of quilting due to the prevalence of such old-fashioned designs! Thanks for your inspiration. My 12 week old daughter now has her very own quilt!
I use both FB and IG but prefer IG for seeing what is happening in the quilting world
I totally agree with this! I love Instagram for the quilting world, but I use birth.
