Today I have a free pattern for you – to sew this rainbow patchwork purse.
Firstly, how adorable is the packaging for the 10 piece Crayola FQ set?
When I received this little box of sunshine in the mail I had a lot of fun arranging the colours in rainbow order:
Then I knuckled down and designed something on the light and fun side, to match the fabric.
It sews up easily thanks to nested seams:
To be honest, I could have easily stopped at this point of the construction and turned my patchwork into a mini-quilt:
But I was curious to see if my pattern would work out as planned.
(Patchwork purse is lined with Riley Blake Confetti Cotton in Charcoal)
Thankfully it did!
Now my only problem is deciding whether to wear it with my shamrock green or charcoal grey dress… [yes, I am one of those people who when she finds a dress that looks flattering buys it in all. the. colours :) ]
So, green:
Or grey?
What do you say?

The green dress, fun outtakes, that’s a mom’s life!
I think the clutch is great. I will certainly make it, my daughters will love it too!!!
Great clutch. I will certainly make one. Christmas coming up fast!!!!!!
Definitely a fun Christmas gift. Happy sewing!
For a moment there I thought I was having a gold/blue dress moment! I really should read more than skim text! I love this clutch – you’re a genius!
Love it with the green. Beautiful clutch. I too am one of those girls that if I like the style of a blouse, dress etc – buy it in many different colors. So glad to meet another that shares the same idea :)!
I think we are just geniuses. One day the rest of the world will catch on!
Beautiful clutch! It´s especially lovely with the emerald green dress. And I love love the outtakes, haha!
Nothing like an Elmo photobomb and inappropriate footwear to keep it real!
Such a fabulous clutch – thank you for the pattern – I cannot wait to make one. It is so versatile and will look great with any solid – my favourite is grey – imagine it with a white dress!
It would certainly give a white dress some zing! I’d also like to make the clutch with greys down the sides, and only the centre zigzag in colour. I think that’d look great too.
Thanks Debbie. The mini quilt was definitely calling (especially when I had a bit of trouble with the clutch pattern) but I’m glad I persevered!
What a clever idea Kirsty! The clutch certainly gives a sparkle to the grey dress! Besides I’m a Melbourne girl- of course I love grey!
Closest thing to black, right? ;)
oh this is darling! I vote for green as well. (and I do love the mini-quilt option also!)
What an adorable clutch!! And I vote for the green dress :)
Me too, Amanda! Thanks so much for dropping by.
