It’s that time of the year again – the Blogger’s Quilt Festival over at Amy’s Creative Side. Come and check out my red quilt pattern.
I love going through the entries and seeing all the amazing quilts people have been designing and/or sewing…so inspiring!
I’ve put my Wildfire quilt into the Modern Quilting category.
This quilt is made from two fabrics – a tan solid and a red Alison Glass fabric (Speckled in Tomato from the Handcrafted 2 line).
The pattern is one of my own (found here), a log cabin on point design called Diamonds in the Deep.
It looks like I spent a great deal of time splicing in all those little pieces of tan in the red log cabin “logs”, but actually Alison did all the work with the fabric pattern. Thanks Alison! ;)
Wildfire was quilted by Kelly Elliott of the Quilt Machine, with a flame edge-to-edge design (of course).
The backing is perfect for a red quilt pattern – a red Amy Butler floral. The binding is more of the Speckled in Tomato.
Enjoy the Blogger’s Quilt Festival!

Congratulations on your win! I enjoyed all of the quilts in the festival, but that tomato red is gorgeous! Enjoy your sweet winnings!
Congratulations on your win — I love it when the quilt I voted for is the winner!
Congratulations on winning the Modern Quilts category of Bloggers Quilt Festival!!! Fabulous quilt!!
I loved this quilt at Quilt Con! You’re right, the fabric choice really makes this spectacular!
You know I love this pattern and this version!!
I always love this pattern! Mixing it with the speckled fabric works so perfectly.
Thanks Kat! I’d love to try it with an ombré as well, but that would take a bit of thinking before I tackled it.
I loved making this pattern in solids last year, but your use of Speckled in tomato is genius! It brings the pattern to a whole new level!
Thank you! I love how the fabric does all the work for me ;)
Very striking pattern! I love how dynamic the 2 colors can be. Great job!
Two colour quilts are definitely a challenge to design – and such a joy to sew!
This is such an interesting design. I love it!
Thank you, Ariane!
I always have a soft spot for a red and white quilt, and yours is lovely. Your backing fabric is the same as my cushion covers, so obviously we both have good taste! Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely, Margaret – great minds think alike ;)
Thank you, Linda!
I love this pattern of yours and it looks fabulous made with these fabrics! The backing is great as well :-)
